The Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration (Imigrasi) issues passports using the international ICAO 35×45mm biometric photo standard. Many applications now go through the M-Paspor mobile app, where the photo is captured digitally at the Kantor Imigrasi.
- Size: 35×45mm (413×531px at 300 DPI) — ICAO biometric standard.
- Background: plain white. Some older Imigrasi guidance allowed red — current standard is white.
- Head height: roughly 64–76% of the image height (chin to crown).
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and looking at the camera.
- No glasses, no tinted lenses.
- Religious head coverings (hijab) accepted — face fully visible.
- Photo must be taken within the last 6 months.

Most Indonesian passport applications now begin in the M-Paspor app, where applicants book an appointment at a Kantor Imigrasi. Photos are captured at the office, but bringing a compliant 35×45mm reference photo helps if the on-site camera fails.
