Nepal's online visa form takes a square digital photo, 1.5 x 1.5 inches on a white background, not the 35×45mm print. Make the 450×450 pixel file and preview it before paying.

Nepal Online Visa Form Photo Requirements

Nepal's Department of Immigration runs an online visa form that you can fill in before you travel. It asks you to upload a photo. The department says to upload a recent passport photo with a white background, and the Embassy of Nepal's visa guidance gives the size: a recent digital photograph of 1.5 × 1.5 inches.

  • Shape: Square, 1.5 × 1.5 inches.
  • Pixels: We export 450×450 pixels, which is that size at 300 DPI. Nepal does not publish a pixel size.
  • Background: White.
  • Format: JPEG, JPG or PNG, as the upload field states.
  • Recent photo.

Online Form or Embassy Application

Nepal uses two different photos. Applying at a Nepalese embassy or consulate, you affix a printed photo to the form. Filling in the online form, you upload the square file.

  • Online form: square 1.5 × 1.5 inch digital photo.
  • Embassy or consulate: a printed photo, which is not the square file made here.
  • If you fill in the form on the website, print the submission receipt with its barcode and bring it with you. The department says the receipt works for fifteen days.

What Nepal Does Not Publish

No Nepalese source we could read gives a head size for this photo. We keep the head at 50–69% of the image height, the proportion used for the common square 2×2 inch photo, with the face centred. Treat that as our framing choice and not an official rule.
