The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICA) and Dubai's GDRFA use the international ICAO biometric photo standard for UAE passports, Emirates ID, and residency visas. The same photo standard is used by ICA Smart Services and Amer applications.
- Size: 35×45mm (413×531px at 300 DPI) — ICAO biometric standard.
- Background: plain white. No shadows, patterns, or colour gradients.
- Head height: 29–34mm chin to crown (64–76% of image height).
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and looking at the camera.
- No glasses, no tinted lenses.
- Head coverings (ghutra, hijab) accepted if worn daily for religious reasons — face must remain fully visible.
- Photo must be in sharp focus with even lighting.
