Australian ETA and eVisitor Photo Requirements

The Australian ETA (subclass 601) is for eligible passport holders from select countries. The eVisitor (subclass 651) covers European passport holders. Both are applied for online and require the same photo standard as an Australian passport.

  • Size: 35×45mm (413×531px at 300 DPI).
  • Background: plain white or very light background.
  • Head height: 55–78% of the total image height.
  • Expression: neutral, mouth closed.
  • No glasses, no tinted lenses.

ETA vs eVisitor — Which Do You Need?

The ETA (subclass 601) is for US, Canadian, Japanese, South Korean, and other selected nationalities. The eVisitor (subclass 651) is for EU, UK, and select European nationals. Both allow stays of up to 3 months per visit and are free to apply for (ETA has a small service fee).

  • ETA: apply via the Australian ETA app or ATAS-registered agents.
  • eVisitor: apply free through the Department of Home Affairs website.
