Canada uses standardized biometric expectations similar to other ICAO-aligned countries. The photo should look like a formal portrait with predictable head height and a plain background.

- Even lighting on the face — avoid single-side lamps.
Plan for Digital Upload First
Many applicants optimize for print, then discover their JPEG is too compressed or poorly cropped for the portal. Check the digital file against the requirements first.
Why We Do Not Make This Photo
IRCC's photograph specifications say that if the photographs are digital, they must not be altered in any way. Cropping a photo and replacing its background is how an online photo maker works, so we do not offer one for Canadian visas.
