The UK Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) is the residence card issued to non-EEA nationals granted leave to remain for more than six months. The photo on a BRP is captured at a UKVCAS or post office biometric enrolment appointment, but applicants who provide a compliant reference photo speed the appointment up.

- Background: plain white — BRP differs from the UK passport here, which uses light grey.
- Head height: 29–34mm chin to crown (64–76% of image height).
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes open looking at the camera.
- No glasses, no head coverings unless worn daily for religious reasons.
- Photo must be in sharp focus and taken within the last month.
